Ozeri – An actual non-stick wok!!

I regularly purchase kitchen equipment only to find that it doesn’t really live up to the job it’s supposed to do. For example I recently purchased a wok from TK Maxx for £20ish but was of course marked down. After the first use it had blackened food residue stuck to the bottom!

So when I was offered the chance to try the 12″ Green Earth Wok by Ozeri I jumped at the chance!

It had arrived by the time I came back from my holidays and I was desperate to get into the kitchen and whip up my favourite dish… Turkey Thai Curry!

The wok boasts the following features…

  • Utilizes an ultra-safe ceramic coating derived from nature which is 100% PTFE and PFOA free.
  • Delivers unprecedented non-stick performance without releasing harmful fumes or toxins at high temperatures.
  • Features a scratch-resistant 100 ceramic coating as found in nature (no heavy metals or chemicals) that is super easy to clean.
  • Made out of durable heavy-gauge pure aluminium with no heavy metals or harmful chemicals.
  • Boasts a comfortable heat resistant Bakelight handle (this allows you to place the wok in the oven), and a magnetized induction stove safe base for rapid heat transfer.

So far it sounds pretty impressive!

To start I followed the usage instructions by giving a clean with a soft cloth and preconditioned the inside with a little oil before getting on to cooking.

With onions I find they tend to cook ok in other woks but in the Ozeri they seemed to cook with ease & glided around the pan without creating any sticky residue.

Moving on to the turkey… this is usually where I have the problems! I was anticipating that there may be a small element of the juices from the turkey sticking to the pan but I was pleasantly surprised to find that that wasn’t the case. The turkey cooked beautifully!

The rest of the ingredients were added and left to simmer.

On dishing up the recipe came out of the wok with ease with very little left over in the pan. I also found that I didn’t have to scrape round the pan to get the last remnants of the dish out either.

Ozeri After Cooking

I have to say I loved cooking with the Ozeri Wok and raved about it all night to the husband about how amazing it was, especially as he is also a regular wok user which leads him saying a few expletives! Cooking with the Ozeri was a stress free experience and I felt that it reduced the cooking time required – maybe that is down to me not getting stressed that part of the dish is sticking to the pan no matter how well oiled. I can see many more dishes being cooked in the Ozeri moving forward.

Not only that but cleaning afterwards was easy too – no harsh scrubbing required, just a quick run round with the sponge in some warm soapy water and it was done! No filling with hot water and leaving to soak meaning you can get your kitchen clean in double quick time!

This wok is perfect for any kitchen, but as a busy mother who doesn’t want to spend time scrubbing pans this really is worth the investment!

The only criticism I have is that it would be great to be available in different colour ways. I am about to undertake a kitchen renovation which includes replacing all my cookware. Unfortunately apple green just won’t go so I may hold out purchasing any new pans until Ozeri launch alternative colours as I would definitely love to try other products from the range.

If you are in the market for a wok I definitely recommend you consider the Ozeri! They are available from Amazon for £36.95 with Free Super Saver Delivery

The scientific info…

Utilizing natural ceramic as a coating, the Green Earth Wok by Ozeri is one of the world’s first woks to achieve non-stick perfection while remaining absolutely free of PTFE, PFOA and other harmful chemicals. Conventional non-stick cookware is achieved through a coating of PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene), a synthetic substance that has waxy properties. At very high temperatures, PTFE begins to decompose and release fumes which are documented to be lethal to birds and small pets, and which can be harmful to humans.

In addition, traditional cookware incorporating PTFE is manufactured with the aid of PFOA (PerFluoroOctanoic Acid), which the EPA has classified as a ‘persistent pollutant of the environment’. With the Green Earth Wok’s ecozeri technology, even under high temperatures, no harmful toxic fumes are ever released into the environment. This is because the Green Earth Wok by Ozeri utilizes a 100% ceramic coating derived from nature – not from a laboratory.

The Green Earth Wok’s ceramic coating is completely free of PTFE and PFOA. In addition to being completely eco-friendly and ultra-safe, the Green Earth Wok’s natural ceramic coating is far more durable and scratch-resistant than other non-stick surfaces. With better non-stick properties, the Green Earth Wok by Ozeri allows you to cook with as little as half the amount of oil normally used, and it makes cleaning a breeze.

The Green Earth Wok by Ozeri is made of the highest quality anodized aluminum that allows for even cooking and fantastic browning without the risk of hot spots. It boasts a magnetized bottom for rapid heat transfer on induction stoves, and a heat resistant Bakelight handle.

Disclaimer: I was sent this wok by Ozeri to try FOC. My reviews however are an honest opinion of how I feel the product lived up to its claims. In the case of the Ozeri, I believe it fully lives up to its claims and fully endorse this product.

Looks amazing. Love your pictures. Do they have other colours? My Learncliki fitness adviser has been nagging me to get a Wok so i can ‘enjoy’ healthy stir fries! But having a nightmare finding one that’ll suit my kitchen AND be of reasonable price. Thanks!

Thank you! Unfortunately they only have it in the green, but it’s a fabulous wok, I made stir fry this evening and usually find sauces tend to stick to the pan but once again the Ozeri lived up to the promises of being non-stick! Fab healthy dinner once again!
